Understanding Aerobic Treatment Units (ATUs)
Aerobic Treatment Units or ATUs are self-contained electrical wastewater (sewage) treatment systems. They are installed on properties that cannot be connected to the main sewer system. They are designed to receive and treat all household wastewater from toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, and many more.
Coerco’s ATU systems are approved by the Department of Health of Western Australia for single houses.
They can also be scaled up for multi-residential and commercial developments or sites.
Larger systems require individual assessment and approval for their technical design.
In other states, ATUs are referred to as Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems or AWTS.
Another term they are referred to is Alternative Treatment System.
Treated wastewater can be used for irrigation in garden beds, and orchards, and or disposed of into soakwells, and aquasafe drains.
