There are water tanks built specifically to be placed underground. These are different from the above ground poly water tanks.
We have seen some of our above ground water tanks partially buried successfully. However, they are not engineered to be installed underground, and therefore, won't be covered by our warranty should any damage occur.
Unless you have purchased a specific Coerco underground water tank, we strongly recommend these poly water tanks to be placed on a solid foundation above ground.
